WINDSOR, Conn., – September 23, 2011 – Vantis Life Insurance Company has been named a Top Workplace for 2011, the company announced today.
The Windsor, CT. based firm received the designation for the Greater Hartford region by The Hartford Courant and FOX CT, Connecticut's sponsors of this year's program.
"We are delighted to be selected as a Top Workplace for 2011, but frankly we are not surprised. Providing a superior work environment has always been a priority for us and we are just as diligent about keeping our employees happy as our customers," said Peter Tedone, Vantis Life President & CEO. "To be named a Top Workplace means that our philosophy of creating a nurturing atmosphere -- where everyone pitches in, has plenty of space to grow, and ultimately flourishes -- is working."
'Top Workplaces' is a national program designed to measure the health of U.S. companies and identify some of the nation's best firms according to their employee opinions. Winning firms are recognized as ethical, caring employers with good leadership and opportunities for staff.
Candidates are evaluated entirely on the basis of a confidential employee feedback survey. Additionally, company representatives are required to complete a questionnaire on employee benefits, workplace strengths and interesting facts. Companies may receive a summary results report that provides details on the firm's strongest and weakest scoring areas.
Six key themes are covered in the survey: "Direction," which assesses the company's values, leaders and strategy; "Execution," or how the company communicates and gets work done; "Career" tracks opportunity for training and progression; "Conditions" evaluates the working atmosphere and environment; "Managers" and managerial skills are considered; and "Pay and Benefits" looks at compensation.
Responses to statements such as "I feel genuinely appreciated at this company," "This company operates by strong values and ethics," "My pay is fair for the work I do," and "New ideas are encouraged here" helps judge employee satisfaction at each firm.
"It's great to see Vantis Life designated as a Top Workplace alongside such iconic organizations as T-Mobile USA and Ernst & Young in Atlanta; Google, Inc. and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, both in Boston; Campbell's Soup Co. in Philadelphia; and the University of Florida," added Tedone.
In 2010, over 3,000 companies across the U.S. had their workplaces assessed by employees as part of this program. This is the first year that Connecticut has participated.
On Sunday, September 25, a special section of The Hartford Courant - in print and online, at www.courant.com - will profile the winning Connecticut organizations for 2011.
"The designation is a mark of confidence for customers and investors, as well as employees and potential recruits," the 'Top Workplace' organization notes on its website.
'Top Workplaces' is a project of nearly two dozen newspapers throughout the country.
